NamWater on Saturday said they would send out trucks at different times of the day to provide water directly to the sensitive areas such as hospitals and schools in the Oshana, Ohangwena, and Oshikoto regions following water supply interruptions from 16 -26 October due to the company’s pumps at the Calueque dam in Angola having broken down. The pumps have subsequently been repaired, the company said, but explained that in the meantime the water in the canal had been used up and it would take some time to refill and for the water to reach the Oshakati purification plant and other far away places. It would also take time to fill up the dam at Oshakati with purified water before resuming the distribution of clean water throughout the three regions.
