India is now also planning on sending assistance to earthquake-hit Turkey. Expressing his grief over the deaths, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India stands in solidarity with Turkey. An earthquake of 7.8 magnitudes on the Richter scale hit Turkey and Syria on Monday, killing more than 2,000 people. Meanwhile, several European Union countries are also sending rescue teams to Türkiye to assist first responders with the search for survivors and efforts to limit the devastation wrought by a powerful earthquake. Ankara submitted a request for help under the EU’s civil protection mechanism. Brussels says it also stands ready to support those affected in Syria.
