Hundreds of people from Keetmanshoop and surrounding areas flocked to the Neckartal Dam on Sunday, when the dam was opened for public viewing for the first time. Meanwhile with the dam having been at 97.2% full at 6pm on Monday and expected to overflow some time during the night Namwater extended the invitation to the public to return on Tuesday to witness the historic occasion for themselves. Speaking at the dam on Sunday former Keetmanshoop municipality councillor, Ernst Jash, thanked the government for its investment into the dam, saying “if some people think the dam was a waste of money, I challenge them to come here and see”.
