In Yemen, the UN team leading efforts to transfer more than a million tons of oil from a rusting tanker issued a new appeal on Tuesday for funding to ensure that the salvage operation can go ahead. Russell Geekie from the UN humanitarian team in Yemen said $80 million is needed to salvage the stricken boat, the FSO Safer, which is a floating oil storage and offloading vessel that is moored in the Red Sea north of Yemen.
