Following South African President Cyril Ramaphosa having confirmed that the local government elections will take place on the 27th of October this year the DA says it is delighted that South Africans will get an opportunity to exercise their hard-won right to vote. DA leader John Steenhuisen says the fact that government has completely botched the rollout of a comprehensive and effective Covid-19 vaccination strategy, has provided voters with the perfect opportunity to head to the polls. Meanwhile, Congress of the People’s Dennis Bloem says they welcome the fact that the elections will proceed, as they have always said they will oppose any attempt to postpone the elections.
