A total of 5 007 candidates sat for their Advanced Subsidiary Level National Examinations in 28 subjects at 88 public and 14 private schools. In the science subjects, namely Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Agricultural Science and Computer Science, 89.5 per cent of candidates were graded and 10.5 per cent ungraded. In terms of the commerce subjects, Accounting, Business Studies, Economics and Entrepreneurship, 87.5 per cent of candidates were graded and 12.5 per cent ungraded. While 91.3 per cent of Second Language English candidates were graded and 8.7 per cent ungraded, with all Afrikaans Second Language candidates graded.
