Parliament has dismissed claims by former Swapo parliamentarian Nahas Angula that Speakers of the National Assembly have no control over the House, noting that such claims are devoid of truth, misleading and misinforming. This, the Namibia press agency reports, after Angula in an opinion piece published in a local newspaper on Tuesday called for the resignations and recall of the NA Speakers Peter Katjavivi and his Deputy Loide Kasingo. The National Assembly insisted in a statement that the current Presiding Officers of the NA are highly capable and well-experienced parliamentarians who have demonstrated effective leadership over the House in the last ten years.
