Prime minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila says the negative narrative being published about the government, Swapo and its leaders in relation to the corruption and fraud at the National Fishing Corporation of Namibia (Fishcor) is tarnishing the country’s image. The Namibian newspaper reports that she urged the nation to allow the process going on at the courts to take its course while fully supporting the courts to ensure that they perform their duties effectively, thereby strengthening accountability. Kuugongelwa-Amadhila acknowledged that any level of corruption is bad, adding that incidents incidences of corruption are receiving decisive action by the government.
