Nampol’s commander for community affairs in the Erongo Region, Inspector Ileni Shapumba has called upon residents of Swakopmund and Walvis Bay to be vigilant. Shapumba urged the business community to improve security when handling money and other valuables, to avoid keeping cash on business premises, and avoid giving security information to strangers. This, the Namibia press agency quotes him as saying, as suspected robbers have recently been spotted at businesses like service stations, using vehicles with either fake registration numbers or number plates that do not match the description of the vehicle being driven. He also urged the public to observe and report any suspicious activities to the police without delay.
