President Hage Geingob visited the Katutura State Hospital on Tuesday for an inspection following a Cabinet meeting during which matters pertaining to the COVID-19 situation in the country and measures to supply more oxygen and avail more beds were discussed.

During his inspection the President emphasised that curbing further COVID-19 infections is not a hospital battle but a matter of how individuals conduct themselves in terms of adherence to the preventative regulations. “We are pleading with you for your own sake and for your own safety, take care of yourselves,” he said. For her part, Dr. Nelago Amagulu, a medical doctor at the Katutura State Hospital, urged the public to adhere to the set COVID-19 preventative regulations stringently, stressing that adherence is the best treatment. Amagulu stressed that the situation in Namibia currently is not about whether a patient has medical aid or not, but rather about whether there is a bed available for them.
