According to the 2021/22 festive season road safety campaign report, at 27 deaths the Otjozondjupa Region recorded the highest number of road fatalities among all 14 regions with the Oshikoto Region the second-highest at 11 followed by Zambezi with 10. The regions with the highest number of motor vehicle crashes meanwhile were Khomas with 138, Otjozondjupa with 47, and Oshana with 46. The Namibia press agency reports that, officially unveiling the report, Minister of Works and Transport, John Mutorwa, said that while, as a nation, people worked together very well to reduce motor vehicle crashes, fatalities still increased by 17 per cent compared to the 2020/21 festive season.
