South Africa’s Department of Employment and Labour has strongly condemned the unsanctioned inspection of company employment policies conducted by EFF leader Julius Malema and his party this week, describing it as “like going to a police station and taking over their duties”. Contrary to Malema’s demand that companies consider employing 60% South Africans and 40% foreign nationals, Minister Thulas Nxesi said South Africa had no clear policy on employment quotas for foreign nationals but that his department was in the process of finalising the labour migration policy, which would address these issues.
