The South African economy is 1.8% smaller than it was before the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s despite the economy growing by 1.2 percent during the fourth quarter of 2021. eNCA reports that the numbers say five of the country’s ten industries recorded a rise in production with agriculture, trade, and manufacturing registering the largest increases. South Africa’s GDP is projected to grow by 2% in 2022, returning to pre-COVID-19 growth numbers.
