South African President Cyril Ramaphosa says government plans to increase local procurement even further over the next five years. Speaking virtually at the ninth annual Proudly South African Buy Local Summit and Expo, Ramaphosa emphasised that the economy needs to start moving again and buying local is key to that. He mentioned as an example a small culinary business in the Eastern Cape which faced demise with the recent Covid-19 restrictions, but was saved through government’s assistance.
