The DA says South Africa is on the verge of fuel shortages after South Africa’s largest fuel refinery suspended its operations due to unrest. Newsflash reports that Sapref produces 30 percent of fuel and this, combined with the already closed Astron, Enref and PetroSA refineries, means only two refineries providing less than 30 percent of South Africa’s normal fuel production are still operational. The DA’s Kevin Mileham says this will impact the already critical fuel situation, particularly in the inland provinces.
