South African President Cyril Ramaphosa says police have initiated a bidding process to award all outstanding contracts for consumables and other products needed to address the DNA backlog in gender-based violence cases. This as police have finalised three-thousand-534 gender-based violence dockets that had been outstanding for more than a year, while there are more than 23-thousand cases still active. Ramaphosa says everybody needs to mobilise all of society, particularly men and boys, to ensure they respect the rights of women.
