Protesting taxi drivers and operators took to the streets of South Africa’s administrative capital, Pretoria on Wednesday morning, allegedly hijacking a bus driven by a female driver. News24 quotes the City of Tshwane spokesperson as saying that “On other routes, passengers are kicked and forced out of the buses,” and that all buses have since been recalled to the depot. The N1 north between Johannesburg and Pretoria was meanwhile brought to a near standstill as the striking taxi drivers and operators from various associations blocked the freeway.
