A contingent of the South African National Defence Force, believed to be special forces who will form part of the Southern African Development Community’s Standby Force, arrived in Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado province on Monday. News24 reports that further details of the force are still unclear. It is also not clear to what extent the SANDF’s internal deployment to respond to the unrest in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng will affect South Africa’s role in Mozambique.
