Wits University in South Africa has confirmed that a meeting between the 26 vice-chancellors who form Universities South Africa is scheduled for today amid protests at many of the country’s institutions. Newsflash reports that students have taken to the streets at various campuses demanding free tertiary education and the scrapping of historic debt. A spokesperson for Wits University, Shirona Patel says a meeting between SRC members and the university’s senior executive took place at the weekend.
