The coordination of the Southern Africa Customs Union member countries in the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area agreement is critical for both the facilitation of implementation and for the work that is ongoing says SACU Executive Secretary Paulina Elago. This, the Namibia press agency reports as Botswana is yet to ratify the agreement, while Angola, the Comoros, and the Democratic Republic of Congo have not yet even signed up to it. Elago however gave her assurance that SACU will continue to put measures in place for the effective implementation of the AfCFTA agreement, and will ensure that areas that are lagging behind are prioritised and fast-tracked in terms of implementation.
