South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has extended the deployment of the South African National Defence Force in Mozambique for a year, at a cost of R2.8 billion. News24 reports that the South African forces are part of a mission, along with soldiers from Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Lesotho, Malawi, Tanzania, and Zambia that was initially deployed until October 2021. According to Times Live Ramaphosa said there had been some successes, but also some challenges in the military operation.
