The South African Poultry Association has confirmed a bird flu outbreak, the outbreak of H5 Avian Influenza has been established at a chicken farm in the East Rand in Gauteng and Botswana has banned the importation of poultry and poultry products from South Africa. The Namibian Directorate of Veterinary Services has also announced that they have suspended all imports and in transit movement of live poultry and their raw products from South Africa.
