South Africa’s Parliament has less than two weeks left to meet the Constitutional Court deadline to amend the Electoral Act to make provisions for independent candidates to participate in National and Provincial elections. The SABC reports that the country’s Constitutional Court has yet to make a decision on the National Legislature’s application for a six-month extension. But One SA Movement leader Mmusi Maimane says Parliament must be held accountable for contempt of court for failing to process the Bill on time.
