Despite rising COVID-19 cases among learners and teachers Minister of Education, Arts and Culture, Anna Nghipondoka has said there is no plan for the closure of schools countrywide. The Namibia press agency reports that despite calls from the Teachers Union of Namibia for the ministry to close schools for the months of June and July, Nghipondoka insisted that the school trimester will not be interrupted and teaching will go on as planned, because only schools with a high number of cases will be closed for a few days for disinfection and affected learners and teachers are advised to stay home until they recover.
