At least 168 people have been killed in fighting between Arabs and non-Arabs in Sudan’s war-torn Darfur region, while 98 others are reported to have been wounded. The AFP news agency reports, in an article that can be read on the News Blog page of the Future Media website, that the violence broke out when armed tribesmen attacked villages of the non-Arab Massalit minority in retaliation for the killing of two tribesmen. Independent aid group, the General Coordination for Refugees and Displaced in Darfur, however accused the Arab Janjaweed militiamen of orchestrating the attacks.
