At least seven people were killed and others kidnapped during an attack on a major Nigerian railway after gunmen detonated a bomb on the track and opened fire on a halted train on a line linking the capital Abuja with the northwest city of Kaduna. In an article which you can read on the News Blog page of the Future Media website, the AFP news agency reports that around 970 passengers were onboard the train when gunmen blew up the tracks and started shooting into the coaches. The Kaduna State security commissioner said that the passengers had been evacuated by the army, with those who had sustained injuries having been transferred to hospital while search and rescue operations were continuing, suggesting some people were still missing.
