Minister of Finance Iipumbu Shiimi has increased the sin tax on respective excisable commodities effective Wednesday, as per the Southern African Customs Union agreement. Nampa reports that while tabling the 2022/23 budget in the National Assembly Thursday, Shiimi said a 340 millilitre can of beer or cider will cost an extra 11 cents; a 750ml bottle of wine an extra 17c and a bottle of sparkling wine increases by 76 cents. A bottle of spirits will be N$ 4.83 more expensive and a packet of 20 cigarettes will cost an extra N$ 1.03.
