A report on the State of Food and Nutrition Security and Vulnerability in Southern Africa conducted by the Southern African Development Community Regional Vulnerability Assessment and Analysis Programme has estimated that 45 million SADC citizens are food and nutritionally insecure. Southern African countries are still experiencing the effects of the drought on food security, but according to the Executive Secretary of SADC, Dr. Stergomena Lawrence Tax, small stock farmers are the future for food security in SADC, something Dr Kobus Laubsher an Agricultural economist from South Africa, told Future Media News he agrees with, to a point.
