South Africa’s Department of Health has called on people to be vigilant after the country recorded its second positive case of Monkeypox on Tuesday – a 32-year-old man from Cape Town with no travel history, something that suggests a high possibility of local transmission. The Department said that “the source and linkage of cases remain under investigation,” but “urged the public to observe good hygiene practices, and other preventative measures, which proved effective against Covid-19, to prevent the spread of the virus”.
