Speaking during a virtual public briefing, outlining the Department of Health’s Covid-19 vaccine rollout strategy, South African Minister of Health, Zweli Mkhize, said the government was committed to rolling out vaccines with urgency to establish herd immunity against Covid-19, and that they had to be made available to all South Africans, starting with the most vulnerable and health workers. Times Live reports that Mkhize said government was targeting 67% of the population with a three phase rollout strategy. Phase one would focus on front line health workers, Phase two would include essential workers, people older than 60, and people older than 18 with co-morbidities, and Phase three would target other people older than 18.
