South Africa lost an estimated 1.5-trillion-rand to corruption and state capture between 2014 and 2019. This is according to a case study titled State Capture 101 released by Unite 4 Mzansi, an initiative led by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants and business leaders. One of Unite 4 Mzansi advocates and University of the Free State chancellor, professor Bonang Mohale, says South Africa has made it look so easy to capture the state.
