Stellenbosch University student Theuns du Toit, who was filmed urinating on a fellow student’s belongings, has been expelled. This, the university said, as he was found guilty of contravening several clauses of the university’s disciplinary code for students. According to News24 the university said it operated on a set of basic values which every student is expected to respect and promote, and which informs the application of the disciplinary code. This includes clauses such as “…no student shall, without good and lawful reason, willfully engage in any conduct which adversely affects the University,” and “a student shall not act in a manner that is racist, unfairly discriminatory, violent, grossly insulting, abusive, or intimidating against any other person”.
