Stellenbosch University student Babalo Ndwayana said that should Theuns du Toit, who entered his room at the Huis Marais residence and urinated on his books, laptop and desk in the early hours of Sunday morning approach him to say sorry, he “would forgive him”. News24 reports that du Toit apologised to Ndwayana “and in general for [his] behaviour” but his regret was not enough for dozens of students, who on Monday, gathered outside the residence, demanding answers and severe repercussions. The crowds later moved from Huis Marais to the university’s administration building, where students spoke of their personal experiences of discrimination, from being made to feel like they do not belong to being mocked for their accents.
