The trial of 27 year-old rape accused Glenn Clifford Leister is set to commence in the Swakopmund Regional court on 29 October 2021, following a decision by the Prosecutor General. The Namibia press agency reports that Leister, who is a driver for the Swakopmund State Hospital Ambulance service, stands accused of raping a 15-year-old girl, who was a patient at the Swakopmund Municipal Bungalows, which were being used as a Covid-19 isolation facility, in September 2020. Leister has denied all charges but remains in custody until his next court appearance.
