While South Africa is still dealing with a humanitarian crisis following extensive flooding in KwaZulu-Natal, the South African Weather Service has warned the country would see more heavy rains, which could result in flash floods in already drenched areas. Mozambique, Madagascar and Malawi are now on high alert as Tropical Storm Jasmine is expected to make landfall this week, resulting in heavy rains just a month after the trail of destruction left by Cyclone Gombe which affected more than 20 000 families. “From Tuesday, the trajectory and the intensity of Jasmine become very uncertain,” the Mozambican Meteorological Service said, explaining only that Madagascar would be the first to feel the impact.
