The UK government has unveiled new legislation that it says would “fix” the Northern Ireland Protocol which kept certain EU rules in areas such as food standards, to prevent a hard border with the Republic of Ireland. The European Commission’s top Brexit negotiator, Maros Sefcovic says though that it’s not up for renegotiation and the UK can’t just walk away from an international agreement.
