British finance minister Rishi Sunak on Wednesday launched plans to ease a cost of living crisis, with growth set for a massive slowdown as the war in Ukraine and decades-high inflation pummel the economy. The AFP news agency reports that Sunak unveiled measures to help household finances, including a cut on fuel duty and easing the tax burden for the lowest earners. He also pledged to cut income tax in 2024, which is the last year when the next general election can be called by Conservative Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
