The UK has sealed it is the first big post-Brexit trade deal with Japan. According to FSN, Ministers from both countries signed the agreement in Tokyo on Friday. Further to Liz Truss, the UK’s international trade secretary, signing the agreement with Toshimitsu Motegi, the Japanese foreign minister, the new deal largely replicates the existing EU-Japan deal, but has an extra chapter on digital trade and lacks the quotas for agricultural exports such as cheese that Brussels wrested from Tokyo during years of talks, reports the Financial Times.
