Old Mutual has joined the list of companies that South African financial sector union, Sasbo, wants to take to the Labour Court for dismissing employees who refused to vaccinate against Covid-19, confirming to Fin24 that 49 people have left its employ due to incapacity. The company has since though abolished its mandatory vaccination policy and halted the incapacity hearings process. The Union is also fighting the battle of 40 Standard Bank employees who were dismissed by the bank for not vaccinating by its deadline of 4 April. But on Monday night, Standard Bank also suspended its mandatory vaccination policy with immediate effect, without saying though what would happen to the 40 workers it has already dismissed and those still placed on special leave.
