The SA Tourism Business Council is demanding answers from the US mission in South Africa. This follows a ‘Level 4’ warning issued by the United States that also advises its citizens not to travel to the country. eNCA reports that South Africa is one of 116 countries to be added to the ‘Do Not Travel’ list. The US says this is because of the high risk of COVID-19, crime and civil unrest in the country. However, South Africa’s Tourism Business Council says the decision is unfair and the reasoning, illogical. CEO at TBCSA Tshifhiwa Tshivhengwa says the decision harms SA’s tourism industry.
