Amid staff shortages brought on by the so-called ‘Great Resignation’ the largest school district in the US State of Minnesota has launched a program to hire students as part-time janitors. Business Insider reports that students must be at least 16 years old and are paid $15.30 (or about N$230) an hour, which, if the jobs were full time, would equate to a monthly salary not very far from N$40,000. The student janitors do not clean bathrooms or locker rooms though, with their primary responsibilities being sweeping, vacuuming, taking out the trash, and disinfecting surfaces.
