Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Erastus Uutoni has urged regional councils to prioritise and implement projects that are geared towards community development. Speaking at the third consultative forum on decentralisation, Uutoni said that decentralisation remains the government’s objective to achieve effective public participation in decision making and the development of local affairs, but fumed that while budgeted money is available for regional councils to execute local needed projects, at times a lack of implementation continues to be a challenge, while community members continue to suffer from undervelopment.
