Executive Director in the Ministry of Health and Social Services, Ben Nangombe, has called on Namibians to get vaccinated against Covid-19, saying it is the strongest weapon in combating the pandemic, the Namibia Press Agency reports. Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Nangombe said the ministry has observed that there is some degree of reluctance from the public because of various false information, particularly on social media, about the vaccine. He explained that the results of countries that have broadened their vaccination show a decline of new infections and that COVID-19 related deaths are starting to reach normalcy. He said as of 16 March 2021, Namibia had recorded 51 218 COVID-19 cases and 718 deaths, while 50 339 people received the first COVID-19 vaccine.
