People who lost the money they deposited in the defunct Venda Building Society Mutual Bank in Limpopo will each get 100-thousand-rand back. The chairperson of the VBS shareholders’ forum, Madambi Muvhulawa, says the announcement was made by Nedbank, which took over VBS’ assets and liabilities following its collapse in 2018. A group, including the bank’s executives, politicians and municipal officers, looted 2.3-billion-rand from VBS. Muvhulawa told Pretoria News depositors who are owed more than the 100-thousand-rand will get the balance of their money at a later stage.
