The Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Tourism has allocated N$ 188 million towards nature conservation through its Wildlife and Protected Area Management unit. This is according to the environment minister Pohamba Shifeta, who presented the ministry’s N$ 525 million budget for the 2021/22 financial year in the National Assembly on Thursday. Nampa reports that, Shifeta explained that conservation is the largest programme of the ministry, which focuses mainly on the management of 20 protected areas, anti-poaching operations, prevention and mitigation of human-wildlife conflict as well as support to the community based natural resource management programme.
