The International Monetary Fund says the Covid-19 pandemic threatens to roll back decades of progress for women, disproportionately impacting women’s incomes, employment, and education opportunities. Research by the fund shows that during the pandemic, women with younger children have suffered larger job losses and/or drop-in hours than other women and men. IMF’s managing director Kristalina Georgieva says investment in early childhood development means more women can join the labour force.
