Each year, parts of the Zambezi region receive heavy rains which cause flooding in parts of the region. Residents in the floodplains of the region such as Luhonono are then cut off from the mainland via the Namalubi-Luhonono road by the swelling Zambezi River. The Governor of the Zambezi region, Lawrence Sampofu while speaking to Future Media News, advised communities to move to higher grounds if heavy rains start.
